Thank You
I wanted to say a big thank you to all the lovely readers who left very kind and thoughtful messages of condolence after the recent death in our family.
Each and every message really means more to me than I can say.
I'm so sorry, too, to hear of your losses, Jennifer and Genevieve. Your Christmas was probably more of a sober affair this year, too, as a result.
We definitely felt the gaping hole at the table without our adored Dot. And there were many tears shed as her family unwrapped gifts and read cards that she had bought and wrapped before she passed away.
Mr K's family is very close-knit and very loving, and have always treated me as one of their own. And even though Dorothy is not my grandmother, she showed me so much love and kindness from the very first time we met (I clearly remember the day and the sound of her voice as she said "Hello, darling" and embraced me), she became an instant friend and adopted grandmother.
She and Geoff, Mr K's grandfather, gave us a Myer gift card for Christmas, and we are going to use it to buy a photo frame, and frame our favourite photo of them – up to their necks in a bubble bath and laughing!
We love you, Dorothy, for being such a beautiful, elegant lady who wasn't afraid to be seen with a chicken on her head on Mother's Day!
xx Kiki

What a beautiful lady.
Merry Christmas to you and your Family.
She was there with you
What a beautiful photo. She sounds like a wonderful woman x
thanks for sharing such a lovely and heartfelt post Kiki. I love how Dot managed to look graceful with a chicken on her head x
Aaw Kiki your beautiful post nearly brought tears to my eyes! My grandmother’s name is ‘Dot’ and I don’t know how my family would cope without her (especially on Christmas Day). All the best to your family during this difficult time:)
What a beautiful tribute. Dot sounds absolutely wonderful. My thoughts are with you and your family.
Emma – Thank you for your thoughts and wishes, hon.
Miss Posy – She was a very beautiful woman. I always looked at her and hoped I look as elegant at 80.
Annie – Thank you, Annie. She was so refined but not in an aloof way, and she always got into the spirit of things, even silliness!
Ali – Dot is such a sweet name, isn’t it? We really have to treasure our grandparents while we can. The last couple of weeks have made me determined to spend more time with my grandma, who is 87.
Emm – Thanks for your lovely words. I was very lucky to have known Dot. She was a dyed-in-the-wool Lady.
