Latest Opshop Finds

I love Tupperware. I love that they're one of those brands that do what they do so well that no-one else even comes close. Not even in the same ball park.

As any Tupperware convert will tell you, once you use Tupperware you can't ever go back. No other seal will ever satisfy your need for airtightness. Only Modular Mates will give you Pantry OCD.

And though I love getting new Tupperware catalogues, I always have a soft spot for vintage Tupperware. I make a bee-line for the kitchenware section whenever I go opshopping, hoping to find some 'new-old' piece in burnt orange, turtle green or oatmeal that I don't already have.

I have quite a collection of vintage Tupperware and was recently pleased to find a couple more to add to it. I especially love the pieces with retro motifs, like this lovely canister for $2.

I was also very excited to find a piece I never knew existed, for 99c… a very shallow version of the Season Serve, except the regular looking lid means it doesn't look like you flip it over.

This will be perfect for deli meats or maybe a couple of steaks.

Remember in an earlier post I found some black glittery mary-janes I imagined the Wicked Witch of the West wearing under her robes, but then decided she'd have a pair of killer heels instead? I reckon I found those killer heels.

They're super witchy-pointy, with the skinniest pencil thin stiletto you've ever seen and the most awesomely Wicked Witch of the West green foil leather.

Apologies for the blurry photo. My camera battery died literally seconds after I took this shot so I couldn't get a better one. And the smudges are on the opshop mirror.

Although these shoes are especially fabulous (I'm pretty sure I saw these in a store about 5 years ago and they're Italian and very expensive, about $300+) I really can't see myself wearing lime green stilettos I have no hope of walking in. And $40 was a bit steep, I thought, even given their original price.

I did manage to find some beautiful little horn bowls at the same opshop, though, which make perfect jewellery holders.

I actually already had the smallest one, bought in South Africa, but I was incredibly lucky to find the larger two in graduating sizes for $1.50 and $1. I think they look great lined up in front of this picture on the mantle.

The picture is The Somnambulist which I bought for Mr K from Art&Ghosts when she had an etsy store.

And last but not least of my latest opshop finds is the gorgeous little gingerbread man cookie cutter for 99c. Isn't it just adorable? I need to leave this out on the bench to remind me to do some baking and make a whole pile of little gingerbread men.

I just remembered a picture I took on my iphone at an opshop last week and sent it to Mr K to ask him if it's a poffertjes maker because I've been going on for weeks about how much I want an electric one, but when I saw them they're enormous! (well, bigger than I think they should be, and for the storage space in the kitchen)

So now I'm willing to settle for the old-fashioned cast iron type but wasn't sure if this is one. He didn't know so I didn't get it, but turns out it is (thanks Google images) so I'm hoping it's still there tomorrow, because I'll be nearby that opshop and will snap it up for $15.

Fingers crossed.

xx Kiki

Cathy – Problem is the vintage stuff is all round or other shapes so don’t fit into a modular pantry all that well. Luckily my Pantry OCD is only mild ;)
