Too sick to post sensibly

April7

I am a sad, sorry for myself sickipoos today. So forgive me for a text light post and reliance on photos to tell the story.

When the weather turns cooler I start craving soup. Don't you? It's also really good sick-person food. Don't think I made this. Sick people totally get off cooking duties. I am a very practical person and keep a supply of those fresh, squishy-pack soups in the fridge for those times you're tempted to get takeaway but need a quick, healthy option to stop you… you know the ones… the Pitango's, Mr Becks, etc.

Mr Beck's creamy pumpkin soup and buttered toast is very yummy and good, light but satisfying food for a sensitive tummy. I really love the stripey mug and plate set my sister gave me. I think they're meant to be those Betty Blue coffee cups (is that right, or has my addled brain totally got the Betty Blue thing wrong?) but a handle on a bowl sized mug is just perfect for everything from cereal to soup to desserts. She also gave me a blue stripey set.

They're kind of country-cute, which isn't really my style but ever so practical and comfort food-ish, so they will stay.

So, I may be sick but that didn't stop me indulging in an almond Magnum mini for dessert. Mum, don't ring me to tell me off, call your sister. I blame living with Aunty M for all those years for my almond Magnum addiction. Yes, I am absolving myself of all responsibility ;) Besides, it was a mini

Next I'm going to fascinate you with a story about Laundry.

Okay, bye. See ya next time!

So for those still reading, I'm going to admit that although I pride myself on being a very good housekeeper, I stupidly left laundry sitting in the machine for too long with a red pair of cottontails and a blue dress. Don't tell Mr K but one of his designer shirts, one of his favourite tshirts and a pair of my lovably comfortable yoga pants acquired nice new colourful designs.

Luckily, it was Dylon Colour Run Remover to the rescue.

At $10 a pop, it's not a mistake you want to be making regularly, but it is pretty reliable stuff. All three items are as good as new. Phew! I think Mr K's more attached to his ratty old, hole-filled tee than the designer shirt and would have been most upset with me about that.

Wish I was as happy with the Mrs Peggs Handy Line portable clothes line that broke while I was folding it up today. Why does everything – including moving parts! – have to be made of plastic these days?! At $200 I expected alot more from this product.

Especially unhappy with the fact that, although it comes with a 2 year warranty, the consumer is responsible for shipping charges to return it to South Australia! Unacceptable! When is the customer ever responsible for any costs involved in a faulty product?

Okay, enough whingeing… here are two things which have been making me smile recently. The first is someone who never fails to make me gooey. This is my new-ish (4 months) niece, baby M just after a bath. I believe baby cuteness factor increases 500% around bathtime. This is M as the Terry Towelling Druid. Looking suitably sober.

Driving home from baby M's, I spotted the most amazing mag wheels I've ever seen on a broken down Jaguar on the side of the road. I drove on for a bit and then actually did a u-turn to go back and take pics. The girl thought I was a crazy stalker of course. Who cares? I am a brazen blogger always on the lookout for content. Aren't these STUNNING?

I reckon these would look fully sick on my 2000 maroon Nissan Pulsar. Batman would be jealous.

Although my nails are still unashamedly naked since I last posted ('cept for my tootsies which had a romantic long weekend fling with Ulta3's Bo Peep, but I am yet to summon up the bravery to post pics of my feet cos feet are… weird), I have been trying to control my polish acquisitions quite unsuccessfully and will start madly polishing and posting soon. In the meantime, here are some of my most recent manis…

This is Revlon's Nude Chic. I love the idea of looking chic in nude neutrals but this one was just too close to my skin colour and gave me that old-lady-hands look. So although Mr K loved it, I gave it to his sister when we did a nailpolish swap. I'm going to continue keeping an eye out for the perfect chic nude for me. If anyone has recommendations for a good nude for fair skin with red undertones, please let me know!

While I am head over heels in love with Ulta3 at the moment, I don't hold it against them that their foils don't look good on me. Foils and I just struggle to be friends, as these pics of Envy and Snazzle show.

Extremely difficult to work with and extremely streaky. Removed straight after application and passed onto a 13 year old friend next time I saw her. My 12 year old niece also looks fabulous in chromes and foils that look ridiculous on me. Well, at least I have an excuse to buy the polishes I love in the bottle and pass them on :)

Love, Kiki
