Impromptu Shopping Jaunt
So it's 7pm, Mr K has settled comfortably on the couch to watch The Book of Eli, and I check my voicemail.
I hear a message from my sister telling me I'd better get over to Chadstone because they're having a VIP shopping night, and some boutique toy shop has 30% off everything and I need to stock up on birthday and Christmas gifts for her children for the next ten years.
Poor Mr K is dragged off the couch amid assurances we're "…just going to run in and out". He only agrees cos I tell him we can buy coffee beans at Chadstone. Plus we need to get a gift for his boss's kid's first birthday party this weekend.
Two-and-a-half hours later we leave Chadstone with…
You would not believe how attached a grown man can get to buying this toy train and nothing else. The wheels on this one stick a bit but would Mr K entertain the idea of getting anything else in the entire shop? Fortunately they're going to try getting us another one before Saturday.
This is the cute card he picked too. Gotta love glittery robots.
But does a 1 year old really need a birthday card?
The kid's going to play with the box.
I also bought a gift for my little brother who is turning 3, but can't show you cos his parents read this blog
Then Mr K made the mistake of letting me drag him into House, "…because we need more coffee mugs". Which is true… between his coffee addiction and my tea one, we go through a lot of cups each day. Being too lazy to wash them (that's what dishwashers are for) we, of course, just need to buy more.
So I chose two and he chose two.
Mine…
His…
I love the shape of these. They're kind of narrow at the top and bulbous at the bottom. Very cute looking.
I've been on the hunt for a fruit bowl for aaages, and they're either all glass (chip too easily) or too big for the bench space in the tiny galley kitchen. So I was thrilled to find this Maxwell Williams one in the perfect size. I love this peaked shape too.
It's silly, but I can't tell you how nice it is to actually have a proper home for my fruit (Mr K has to be forced to eat fruit). I hate making do until I find exactly what I want.
Then Mr K – possibly wondering when we're actually going to make it to the coffee bean shop – spotted the Moka pots. He hates cleaning the coffee machine (who doesn't? I think the joys of coffee are almost outweighed by the need to clean the machine straight away) and thinks a moka pot will be easier for his pre-work coffee in the mornings.
I hope he doesn't think this gets him out of making me proper espresso coffee on the weekends! I'm not a huge fan of moka coffee.
But I love this half black/half silver one. It looks great in the black and white kitchen. I think it will live on display on the stove.
It was a mistake to walk past Country Road. He came out with two lovely soft lambswool jumpers for $55 each (30% off) and I got a superfine wool black skivvy for $62 (25% off).
He's wearing the brown one today so I couldn't get a pic. When he gets home there will be lots of cuddles, because these jumpers are super soft
Such a bargain.
Poor, patient and kind Mr K… the coffee bean shop was closed by the time we got there. And he still let me race into Sportsgirl and grab the Lavender nailpolish I banned myself from buying until it was on sale.
I adore this colour.
Chadstone, you are evil. Tempting Melbourne's sheeplike masses with your consumerism and materialistic evil.
Baaaaa.
xx Kiki

Hmmm … no mention of presents for your nieces???
I love the shape of Mr K’s coffee mugs. I need some, but will resist, seeing as I spent $175 on toys alone yesterday (but I saved $75!). Jaspers did well out of me. I also texted K… to tell her, she rang back saying she couldn’t make it, could I buy her the toy she was telling us about the other night, so I did and took it to her on the way home. She was impressed with the service
I’m thinking of getting a job there to supply my kids with toys for the next ten years (because I understand Mr K’s attachment issues and secretly want to buy toys I want to play with – they are just the best toys!).
Valankuay – I could have bought the whole shop for them! I am hoping there will be another VIP event before christmas when I’m a bit more solvent.
You should get the cups, they’re only $15 for the pair
And get a xmas casual job at Jaspers just for the staff discount! I want one of the ride-on cars or ladybird.
