The Life and Times of Kiki Chaos

Ladies in Lavender

July5

A while back I wrote about how I was hanging out for Sportsgirl to have a sale so I could break my nailpolish ban (ok, there is no ban…not one I've had any luck self-enforcing anyway…) and get my favourite polish colour of the moment – purple.

I actually bought Sportsgirl's Nail It! in Lavender a couple of months ago, on our impromptu shopping jaunt, but it's taken me this long to actually wear it.

The nail gods have been against me lately. I keep breaking nails. Then smudging manicures within minutes of completion, despite drying top coat, drying drops and all.

And yes, I did destroy this one by thinking it was a good idea to go rummaging through the fridge crisper about two minutes after taking these photos.

I did manage to salvage it with this little miracle worker – Sally Hansen's Smudge Repair – that I discovered in one of those proprietor-run chemists, tucked away in a small suburban strip.

I've never seen this anywhere else, so I think those little out of the way pharmacies are worth ducking into, because you never know what they're clearing out for a song. I think this was $3.

Anyway, it's proving to be a godsend because I'm obviously hard to teach when it comes to preserving new manicures.

So here's another – and better colour-wise – shot of Nail It! Lavender.

This is unlike any other colour I own, and I think it's for that reason that I found it mesmerising and kept looking at my nails.

This gorgeous creme is actually more lilac than lavender, and is practically identical in colour to lilac flowers.

I feel really happy wearing this colour. It's a definite mood lifter.

Makes me want to go out and buy some lilacs now. If only they were in season.

It looks so good on you! I bought it and ended adding some black to grey it out a bit for me – and even then, I’ve put it in my summer colour stash!

You might also like BYS Lilac Love. BYS also do a colour called La Di Da which is a bit of a mix of blue and purple – I wore it to work last week and got lots of comments (but I still felt it was a bit too out there).

In the “purple” family, I’m on a purchasing ban for the next month until Chanel’s Paradoxal comes out. I can’t believe I’ve gone on the waiting list for a nail polish – I don’t think I know myself anymore!

    Wow, that’s a gorgeous colour!

    Love, love, love! <3

Scout – Wow, black greys it out? I’m so curious! But don’t want to spoil my bottle :( I looked at the BYS ones on your recommendation but no Lilac Love at the Kmart I went to. Saw La Di Da but was super watery… was yours? Looked like it would have taken 5 coats to be opaque.
Re Paradoxal, lol… it’s all a slippery slope now :D I’m still holding out on Chanel. I know there’ll be no turning back and my bank account just couldn’t sustain it!

Justine and Keaty – You have to get it! $7.95 is such a steal… or you can do as I do and hold out for their sales… or if you’re really patient, when they clear out old colours for $4.95 :)

The La Di Da was fine – two coats from memory. I’ve never seen BYS at Kmart, I go to Gloss at Chaddy. I wish that I had read your post earlier, I was there earlier and would have picked you up a bottle of Lilac Love.

Scout – Maybe it wasn’t La Di Da I tried. That’s very sweet of you :) But did you read my response to your comment about Catherine Deveney? I go to Chaddy all the time… oh, ok… it’s practically my second home! Will look for Lilac Love next time I’m there. Gloss definitely has the best range of BYS.
