Sportsgirl named their recent royal blue nailpolish 'Wonder Woman', and for that reason alone – not just because I recently discovered the joys of blue and green nailpolish – I had to have it.

If there's one ace thing about being born in the 70s (apart from being able to use the word “ace”), it was having a butt-kicking über-babe like Wonder Woman for a childhood role model.

I can't tell you how much every female… from 5 to 50… wanted to be Wonder Woman. Or Lynda Carter.

She was the chick to be.

Back when I was 5, it was for her laser beam headband and bullet-deflecting bracelets.

Now it would just be for that miniscule waist. How the hell is that even possible?

Anyway, Wonder Woman is so deeply etched into my psyche as the very definition of awesome, naming a nailpolish after her automatically gets my money.

So, the nailpolish.

I think the beauty of Wonder Woman could lie in the gorgeous superfine red shimmer through it, like a wonderful mash up of her star spangled costume.

And even though it's not very evident once dry, I think the red lifts it from being a run-of-the-mill royal blue to a vibrant, kick ass, blingy sapphire worthy of an iconic superhero.

Mr K doesn't like it. He said it looks “like something a 16 year old would wear to her first nightclub”.

I told him it's called Wonder Woman and he said, “Yeah, that's who else I'd expect to wear it.”

Somehow I suspect he doesn't think it makes me red-hot-Lynda-Carter-sexy, though.

Nevermind. I'm enjoying reliving my childhood superhero fantasies.
