Two Ulta3 Favourites plus nail art

May17

I know I've posted about Ulta3 nailpolish before (see Natural Spring and Crazy) but I don't think I've really spent much time talking about why I love this nailpolish so much.

If you haven't already cottoned onto this brand (if you're a regular on Vogue Forums you'd have to be deaf, blind and dumb to have not noticed how popular the Ulta3 thread is), get thee to a Pulse or Terry White pharmacy (apparently Bloom chemists have them too, but only in NSW or QLD) asap.

You won't need to ask for them, you'll probably be stopped in your tracks near the entrance by a full (or increasingly, as their popularity rises, thoroughly raided) bin of rainbow coloured nailpolish bottles.

At $2 a pop, they are Australia's best selling nailpolish. Truly. I got that info from the horse's mouth… Ulta3 nailpolishes outsell any other nailpolish brand in Australia and sold 1 million bottles last year.

I reckon 900,000 of those were bought by Vogue girls. I posted on the Ulta3 thread that my local Terry White had a full bin and three days later, I swear, the bin had about 10 bottles left in it.

So, today I'm going to show you two of my favourite Ulta3 colours – Neutral and Crystalline.

This is Neutral.

This one gets a lot of comparisons to Chanel's Particuliere. While I think there are similarities, in that they're both a browny-neutral shade that is very fashionable this season, Ulta3's Neutral is a bit more milk chocolatey where Particuliere is a bit more khaki.

Plus, Neutral has a slight gold shimmer that appears in the sunlight, as you can see here. This lifts it from being a straight creme that can look a bit heavy in a colour like this, and is my favourite thing about this polish.

One of my other Ulta3 favourites is Crystalline. I think this is a gorgeous version of a classic French nude (on the white side, not pink), but again, with a slight gold shimmer that makes it give off a kind of glow that I find myself staring at when I'm wearing it.

I decided to have a go at a little bit of nail art with this mani, which I haven't done since I was a teenager!

Not being much of a Konad fan, I used my new Sally Hansen nail art pen and some diamantes to do what turned out to be a lovely, simple design that I think is pretty and subtle enough to be a perfect bridal manicure.

Ugh. That's what cuticles look like when you simply cannot find a good manicurist in Melbourne. If you know someone in Melbourne who is a magician with cuticle clippers, please, PLEASE, I'm begging you to let me know who. Price is not an issue. I'm so, so tired of being ripped off by manicurists. The last girl didn't even push them back… grrrrr (Call yourself a friggin…? *splutter*…shakes fist… head explodes)

I've had a request from a lovely reader named Kelly to do a post on how I do my home manicures, so Kelly, thank you for your compliment and I am working on it and will definitely post one soon. Stay tuned :)

Try Seri on Russell Street. I love them and it’s only $25.

OMG I love that Ulta3 Neutral colour – I saw it some weeks back and now regret not picking it up! You are very right it is a little more chocolate in colour than the similar Chanel Particuliere which I saw today – also gorgeously divine (however, am not sure I could justify the cost as OPI is about my limit).

I’m wearing Chi Chi High Heeled Housewife which is not dissimilar and which I love.

I don’t have manicures so sorry, can’t help on that one.

Jacie – Thankyou! Do you go to any person in particular? Your cuticles are always amazing. It’s my cuticles I’m so particular about, since I never let manicurists cut or file my nails anyway.

Scout – It’s not an easy one to find so grab it next time you see it. I can’t justify Chanel’s prices either… I would have to be head over heels in love to buy one, and given that I tire of all colours after 3 days it’s not likely to happen :)

I’m loving Neutral but have had no luck tracking it down in Melb CBD :( Which Terry White chemist did you visit? I’d LOVE to get a bottle of that! Thanks :)

luckyhorseshoe – I’m sorry, I bought it ages ago so I don’t remember where I got it from – just got round to wearing it. If you want to send me your address details to kiki@kikichaos.com, I’ll drop one in the post for you next time I see it :)

Notice the ‘spring’ them in the names – natural spring, hot spring, spring shower, spring fling.

  7. Kiki says:

luckyhorseshoe – I just found out on the VF Ulta3 thread that Neutral has been discontinued. That’s why it’s so hard to find :(

Mel – Yep, those ones were part of their spring collection.
